The Department of the History of Art and Archaeology at SOAS, University of London, invites applications for the Nasser D. Khalili Chair in the Art and Archaeology of Islam. The post is for a senior scholar at Professorial level, and the salary will be commensurate with experience. The post is tenable from 1st September 2014. Candidates should have an outstanding international reputation as demonstrated by an excellent publication record.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Department of the History of Art and Archaeology and will be expected to develop and teach courses at all levels, supervise PhD students, assume administrative responsibilities, and cooperate with existing members of staff in complementing and expanding the current coverage of the arts of the Islamic Middle East. Candidates with a specialism in the later Persianate and Ottoman arts are especially invited to apply.
