The Council on Middle East Studies at Yale University is offering a
one-year postdoctoral fellowship — with the possibility of renewal for a
second year — that will begin on July 1, 2014. Candidates for the
fellowship must have a Ph.D. in hand or must be close to finishing and must
have received the degree no earlier than 2008. The Council seeks a
specialist in Islamic theology and philosophy of the post-classical and
pre-modern period (1100–1800 CE), particularly on the continuation of
the *falsafa*tradition within* kalam* literature*. *The Postdoctoral Associate will
work closely with appropriate members of Yale’s faculty.

The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to be in residence, to conduct
research in Yale’s library, to participate actively in the intellectual
life of the university, and to teach one course within the 2014–15 academic
year. The annual salary will be $52,000 plus benefits. Candidates apply by
