Conférence : Vincent Chetail and François Crépeau, “The Hidden Face of the 2022 World Cup: Migrant Workers in Qatar” — Genève, The Graduate Institute, 12h30, 12/12/2013
Thousands of migrant workers are currently in Qatar building infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup football championships.
News reports, human rights organisations, and the European Union have all condemned the conditions the workers face. The Qatari government has yet to provide any meaningful response to these concerns.
Join us for an interactive news briefing with migration experts Vincent Chetail and François Crépeau on the legal and human rights issues of this situation.
Professor of International Law at the Graduate Institute, Vincent Chetail is Director of the new Global Migration Centre and Editor-in-Chief of Refugee Survey Quaterly.
François Crépeau is the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants. He is a Visiting Scholar at the Institute’s Global Migration Centre and Hans & Tamar Oppenheimer Professor in Public International Law at McGill University.
