The Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (HKS) invites social scientists affiliated with universities in the Arab world to submit applications for fellowships in Fall 2014 and Fall 2015.
Eligibility
Supported by the Ash Center and the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the fellowship will be awarded to Arab social scientists who are working on the regions most pressing public problemsparticularly in the realms of education, health, social welfare, and political and economic reform. The selected fellows must be physically present at Harvard for the duration of the two-semester fellowship. Fellows will work with Harvard faculty and students and participate in the scholarly activities of the Ash Center including the presentation of their research at the Centers seminar series.
How to Apply
Applications for Fall 2014 fellowships are due on January 1, 2014. Application materials should be sent by e-mail to Arab_Scholars@hks.harvard.edu. Applicants should identify one or more faculty mentors at HKS, propose a research agenda for the fellowship period, and provide the contact information for two references. The application should also include a CV. Fellows must have a PhD in hand, should preferably be on the teaching staff of an Arab university, and must be currently engaged in research in any social science or related discipline (such as law or public health). The program anticipates offering two fellowships in Fall 2014.
Benefits
Fellows will receive roundtrip airfare up to $3200, a monthly stipend of $3,333, and $2,700 a month for housing. Health benefits will be provided. The Fellowships are supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
