Princeton University invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track position in the study of women and gender in the Middle East. Applicants may come from a range of disciplinary homes but should have experience with the varieties of interdisciplinary scholarship prominent in Middle Eastern Studies. We seek candidates who focus on subjects relating to women, gender, and feminism from anthropological, cultural, historical, or social perspectives. The position will be based in the Department of Near Eastern Studies. The ability to teach courses on the wider context of Middle Eastern societies is desirable. Evidence of scholarly achievement, dedication to service activities, an ability to offer courses beyond the field of specialization and, above all a commitment to effective undergraduate and graduate teaching will be taken into serious consideration.
To apply, please complete an online application at https://jobs.princeton.edu. Applications must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae (including an indication of proficiency in the relevant Middle East languages and teaching experience), and, for candidates applying at the assistant professor level, a writing sample. All applicants must supply three names of references and their contact information in their online application. For any questions, please contact kchirik@princeton.edu.
Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2013. Princeton University is an equal opportunity employer and complies with applicable EEO and affirmative action regulations.
