Job description: Scientific research and teaching within the field of Islamic Law in Past and Present; research project either on Islamic legal theory (uṣūl al-fiqh) or substantive Islamic law (furūʿ al-fiqh); active participation in the conception of a competence center for „Islamic legal philosophy“; responsibilities for the own scientific qualification.

Requirements: Academic degree (M.A.) and a PhD in Islamic Theology, Islamic Studies or a related subject (preferably with very good results); very good knowledge of German, English, classical Arabic and, if required for the research project knowledge of an additional language like Persian or Ottoman-Turkish; ability and motivation to work independently and interdisciplinarily, as well as interest in working on a joint research project
