Bard College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor of Religion in the area of Islamic Studies, to begin September 2014.
Bard College is a highly selective college of liberal arts and sciences, located 90 miles north of New York City in the Hudson Valley. For more information on Bard, visit http://www.bard.edu//.
The position requires a strong commitment to teaching and scholarship in a liberal arts setting. Applicants should possess a strong foundation in the formative or classical traditions and literatures of Islam, with appropriate language proficiency, and an understanding of later and contemporary developments within Islamic societies. The geographical area of specialization is open, though the successful candidate will also teach within the Middle Eastern Studies program.
