Assistant Professor, Mediterranean History, Winthrop University, South Carolina (Etats-Unis) — LIMITE : 01/11/2013
The Department of History at Winthrop University invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Mediterranean History. We seek an outstanding teacher and scholar trained to offer undergraduate and graduate courses in the history of one or more regions of the Mediterranean world as well as introductory undergraduate world surveys. Period of specialization may be Ancient, Medieval, and/or Modern. Region of specialization may be Africa, Europe, Islamic World, and/or Middle East but the successful candidate should have competency to teach other regions of the Mediterranean world as well.
The position involves a nine-month, full-time, tenure track appointment, beginning August 18, 2014. (If the successful candidate is ABD at the start of employment, the appointment will be a non-tenure track position as instructor.) Responsibilities include teaching four sections per semester, advising students, continuing research and scholarly activity, and service to the department and university. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship.
