The Center for Islamic Theology Muenster is pleased to announce the international round-table conference „The Qur’an in its Milieu of Origin. Possibilities of the Historical Reconstruction of the Qur’anic Revelation” which will be held on 08-10 November 2019 in Muenster, Germany.
It will be organized in cooperation with the Cluster of Excellence of the University of Muenster.
The call for papers is dedicated to all researchers of the Qur’an working especially on themes regarding the Historical reconstruction of the Qur’an.

Founded in October 2011, the Center for Islamic Theology of the University of Muenster, Germany, plays an important role in the establishment of academic research in the field of Islamic Theology as well as in the training of teachers for Islamic religious education in Germany. The foundation followed the recommendation of the German Science Council, and intense public and academic debates on the need to launch an academically profound research in the field of Islam. Today, the Center for Islamic Theology Muenster is the largest of its kind in Western Europe, educating currently 850 students.
The Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics in Pre-Modern and Modern Cultures” was founded in 2007 at the University of Muenster, Germany. Some 200 academics from more than 20 disciplines in the humanities and social sciences and from around 14 countries deal with the relationship of religion and politics across epochs and cultures. It is nationally the largest research association of its kind and of the 43 Clusters of Excellence in Germany, it is the only one to deal with religion.
