The Middle East Studies Center invites applications for a one year position in Middle East Studies starting in Fall 2013. The position requires interdisciplinary research background in the general area of Middle East studies with a strong grounding in the methodologies of social sciences and an interest in public policy. The successful candidate will be expected to teach core graduate courses such as “Critical Introduction to Middle East Studies” and “Interdisciplinary Seminar in Middle East Studies,” as well as supervise MA theses and sit on comprehensive exam committees. The successful candidate will be expected to have some administrative responsibilities in particular:
-Act as Associate Director: Assist the director in the various administrative duties including serving on Departmental, School and University committees, and the development and implementation of outreach activities.
– Assist the Director with the duties of graduate advising.
Requirements:
A PhD in human or social sciences with a Middle East specialization is required at the time of appointment. Successful candidates should have an ongoing program of research and publication, as well as a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.

Priority will be given to applications received by 30 July 2013. The position will remain open until filled.
