Appel à communication : Seventh International Conference : “Popular Culture in the Middle East and North Africa”,

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco, in collaboration with Oxford University, UK, are organising this conference. The objective is to debate the dynamics which drive the development of popular cultural genres across the region. While much of this popular culture is rooted in the Arabic language and in Islam, cultural commonalities extend to the region’s non-Arabic speakers and non-Muslims as well. Research on all aspects and types of popular culture, past and present, is welcome.

Deadline for abstracts: 16 December 2013.
