Exposition : “Speaking from the Heart — The Polemic Sensibility from Iran”, organisée par Shaheen Merali, Castrum Peregrini, Amsterdam, 27/09-09/11/2013
The exhibition, Speaking from the heart, The Polemic Sensibility from Iran shows works by artists affiliated with the Azad Art Gallery, Tehran. They express a feeling of bewilderment and the categorical failure of a system. With their work, the artists produce new identities based on introspection and critique of the lack of civil liberties in their society. This cultural awakening, constructed in images and text, thread and paint, video and graphics, reflects the increasing prominence of protest and activism. The works embody a provocative and poetic demand for a visual encounter between the visitor and contemporary Iran, to incite engagement with a critical artistic discourse.
