Position Summary The Department of History at Rice University in Houston, Texas, invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in modern Middle East history. This fellowship is renewable for a second year contingent upon successful review and completion of the first year.

In addition to research, the successful candidate is expected to teach three courses per academic year and to participate in the intellectual life of the department and other units on campus. S/he will receive a stipend of $50,000 plus benefits, a research and relocation fund of $2,000 in the first year, and a research fund of $1,250 in the second year. Applicants must have received their PhD within the last five years or at the latest by July 1, 2018. This position begins on July 1, 2018.
