We are currently seeking a visual anthropologist (full-time) with ethnographic film-making expertise. The position will begin as soon as possible, with a contract offered until 30thSeptember 2020 (end of first CARMAH funding period). The pay grade is E13 TV-L HU.

Visual Anthropologist – DR/130/17
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will develop the intersections between visual anthropology and museum and heritage studies within the research environment of an international university research centre. The position will be part of an international research group at the Centre for Anthropological Research on Museums and Heritage (CARMAH) – funded by the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation and directed by Prof Sharon Macdonald – that will inquire into heritage and museum practices and the ongoing transformation in museums in the 21st Century, with a focus on Berlin. More information on the flagship project “Making Differences in Berlin: Transforming Museums and Heritage in the 21st Century” can be found via www.carmah.berlin.Requirements: The successful candidate will have a strong academic track-record, with a completed BA and MA in social anthropology, visual anthropology or related areas (preferably also a PhD). Technical expertise as well as proven experience in film-making is required for the post. The working language is English, though additional German language skills are advantageous.
