Assistant Professor, History of the Middle East and Security Studies, University of Nevada (États-Unis) — LIMITE : 01/11/2015

The Department of History at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the history of the Middle East with interests engaging aspects of security studies broadly conceived. We seek innovative scholars whose research takes social, cultural, political, intellectual, economic, transnational, or other approaches to the history of the region. Specializations might include but are not limited to ethnic, national, and transnational networks; cultural accord and conflict; religion; migration; violence and its forms of institutionalization; or law, family, gender, and health. Interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and research are welcomed.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach an introductory course to the history of the Middle East and specialized courses at the upper-division and graduate level, and be prepared to contribute to the program in Core Humanities. Strong evidence of research potential and teaching promise is required. Ph.D. must be completed by July 1, 2016.

Deadline for application is November 1, 2015, with preliminary interviews to be conducted mid-November via Skype.
