We invite applications for a full time permanent position in the Department of Political Studies at UCT. The appointment will be made at the level of Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, or Lecturer. The Department is responsible for teaching Politics, International Relations, Public Policy, and Transitional Justice at all levels, and it is one of the leading centres of research into politics, broadly conceived, on the African Continent. We have a preference for an appointment in the broad fields of International Relations/International Political Economy or Transformative/Transitional Justice, but we are willing to consider applications from exceptional candidates working in any area of the discipline. We are seeking to fill this position from 1 January 2016.
Requirements :
– A PhD in Political Studies (or near completion of a PhD for appointments at the lecturer level).
– The capacity to engage in high-quality research.
– The ability (or potential for lecturer level) to supervise postgraduate students.
– The capacity (or potential) to teach advanced postgraduate courses.
Responsibilities :
The position involves a combination of research, teaching, and administration. The teaching and supervision duties of the appointee will be determined on the basis of the successful candidate’s skills and priorities, and the needs of the department.
Appointment will take place in alignment with the Faculty’s expectations for performance at each rank.

Lecturer : R 528 275
