Editor-in-Chief for Iranian Studies : Journal of the Internat’l Soc. for Iranian Studies — LIMITE : 30/04/2015

The International Society for Iranian Studies (ISIS) is looking for a new Editor-in-Chief for its journal Iranian Studies: Journal of the International Society for Iranian Studies. This interdisciplinary journal is dedicated to the study of the histories, cultures, religions, literatures, economies, social relations, and politics of Iran from the pre-Islamic period to the present. As the official publication of the International Society for Iranian Studies, it has served as the leading forum for the exchange of ideas and promotion of discipline-based and interdisciplinary research in all fields of Iranian studies since 1967.

Requirements:

The new Editor-in-Chief should meet the following criteria:

  • A scholar of Iranian Studies who has a strong international perspective and reputation. The disciplinary field and period of scholarly concentration of the Editor-in-Chief is open.
  • A tireless Editor-in-Chief devoted to further improving the quality of Iranian Studies as the flagship journal in the field.
  • An Editor-in-Chief who understands how his/her editorial work may fit with his/her academic development.
  • An Editor-in-Chief who preferably has some prior experience of journal editing.
  • An Editor-in-Chief who will be comfortable and competent in using the online submission systems.
  • An Editor-in-Chief who will be able to work effectively with the Associate Editors, Editorial Board, Advisory Council, and the ISIS Council

Application :

We encourage self-nominations and recommendations for this job. The Editor-in-Chief will be offered a fixed term of five years (renewable for no more than one term) and will receive some compensation from the society for his/her services. The Editor-in-Chief will also be a member of the Executive Committee of the society and an ex officio member of the Council as long as s/he holds the job.

The nominees should provide their CV and a cover letter explaining their vision for the journal by April 30, 2015. Please send these materials to Dr. Mehrzad Boroujerdi (Chair of the Search Committee) at mborouje@syr.edu

The search committee will provide the list of top qualified candidates to the Council and the President of ISIS who will then make the final decision.
