Assistant/Associate Professor of Islamic Studies in the department of Humanities & Social Sciences teaches H&SS111 (Islamic Studies) a 3 credit course that is a graduation requirement for all PI students in addition to H&SS electives. S/he will also conduct research in his/her area of expertise and engage in service to the institute, discipline and community as required.
Main Duties
Teach H&SS111 and any other courses required by the department
Conduct research in area of expertise
Provide service to the institute and community at large

Qualification
An earned Ph.D. in Islamic studies or closely related field from an accredited (preferably Western) university in which English is the language of instruction. Candidates who also have their B.A. and/or M.A. in Islamic studies, or a closely related field, may be given preference.
Outstanding candidates with an M.A. degree in Islamic Studies may be considered for appointment at a lower rank (senior/lecturer).
Native level fluency in Arabic (written and spoken) with advanced ability in classical Arabic
Excellent written and spoken English
Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Proven track record of scholarly publications with demonstrated potential to conduct further scholarly research
Work Experience
Minimum 1 year of undergraduate level teaching experience in a related field.
Competencies (Technical & Behavioral)
Ability to design, develop and deliver Islamic studies courses including H&SS111 and H&SS electives
Ability to contribute to the development of bilingual Arabic/English syllabi and language courses in conjunction with Arabic language instructors
Demonstrated ability to secure and conduct funded research and publish scholarly works
Ability to develop outreach educational opportunities
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and students
