Duties:

The Middle East Center in the School of Arts and Sciences seeks a Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Director and Associate Director, the Middle East Center Program Coordinator ensures the smooth daily operations of the office and provides assistance in the management of all programs under the Center’s portfolio. Duties include, but are not limited to: organizing academic events, public outreach, teacher training programs; coordinating travel and making hospitality arrangements; seeking out new outreach partners; representing the Center at information sessions and teacher training workshops; assistance in the administration of the Modern Middle East Studies undergraduate program as well as the Center’s fellowship programs; supervising student workers; updating databases and collecting information essential for grant reporting and writing; managing the events calendar; maintaining the Center’s A/V library, teacher training materials; K-12 teaching resources; updating the Center website by creating written and/or digital content; and performing other duties and special projects as assigned. Position contingent upon funding.

Qualifications:

High school diploma and 5 to 7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs or similar area of study strongly preferred. Experience in teacher training and outreach programs preferred. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and set and adhere to deadlines; strong written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent organizational skills; initiative and ability to work independently as well as with a team; strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills; event planning experience; flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings; and strong Apple computer proficiency including: MS Word, Excel, and Power Point are required. Respect for confidentiality is essential. Ability to work with and/or create digital content for the Center website and publicity materials are preferred.
