Applications are invited for a one-year, Modern Middle East History teaching postdoctoral fellowship at North Carolina State University beginning Fall 2015. Applicants whose scholarly work addresses any aspect of modern Middle Eastern History are encouraged to apply.
The Postdoctoral Teaching Scholar will be expected to teach two classes per semester in the Department of History. The Teaching Scholar will pursue their own individual research agenda and be guided by a faculty mentor in their respective field. A research presentation in the Spring semester of each year will summarize progress in this arena and should result in one or more publications. The Postdoctoral Teaching Scholar will be evaluated on a regular basis regarding his/her teaching and mentoring of students. Experience as a teaching assistant or instructor of record desired.
Ph.D. in Middle Eastern History must have been awarded no more than three years from date of postdoctoral appointment. Advanced graduate students with the Ph.D. in hand at the beginning of the fellowship will also be considered. The position offers an annual salary of $40,000 with benefits and office space. Travel money to academic conferences for paper presentations may be available. Funding is expected to last for 12 months at this time, with the possibility of renewal for an additional 12 months.
Review of candidates will begin January 30, 2015 and will continue until the position is filled. Required application materials include: letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and teaching evaluations (as “other document 1”, if available). Finalists will need to provide three letters of reference.
