Warren Wilson College is seeking applicants for a continuing, entry level faculty position in the departments of Religious Studies and Global Studies focusing on Islam and the contemporary Islamic world.
The successful applicant should be able to teach a variety of courses, including the introductory course in comparative religions, the capstone course in the interdisciplinary Global Studies major, and other courses focusing on Islam and the Islamic world. We particularly encourage applicants with expertise in the Middle East region.
Candidates must have a completed PhD in Religious Studies or an equivalent field in hand by August 1, 2015.
This is a full-time, continuing, junior level position in an extended contract system with a 3-3 load.
Successful candidates will have significant and relevant publications, evidence of excellence in and commitment to teaching, and the expectation of continued scholarly work. Warren Wilson College is an independent liberal arts college located on a beautiful 1135-acre campus in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the edge of Asheville, North Carolina.
The college offers a holistic education combining the triad of academics, work, and service, and it has been widely recognized as progressive and committed to social, environmental, and global awareness. Environmental Studies is a well-established program that has been the college’s largest major since 1986. We seek individuals with a genuine interest in our unique approach to education, and a willingness to fully participate in the life of the college.
Interested candidates should submit cover letter, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference to 2014religionfacultysearch@warren-wilson.edu. Electronic submissions are required. The documents should be pdfs titled as follows: LastName_Item. For example, Smith_cv, Smith_referenceJones. Review of applications will begin October 27, 2014, and priority will be given to applications received by that date. We desire a diverse faculty and a community that reflects a global outlook.
