Following BRAIS’s very successful inaugural conference in Edinburgh in April 2014, the organisers now invite proposals for whole panels or individual papers on any aspect or sub-discipline of Islamic Studies, for the Second Annual Conference of BRAIS. Islamic Studies is broadly understood, to include all aspects of the study of Islam and Muslims, past and present, in both Muslim-majority and Muslim-minority contexts. Pre-arranged panels are particularly welcome on themes within the subject, such as:
- Qur’anic Studies
- Law
- History, Medieval and Modern
- Philosophy and Theology
- Intellectual History
- Spirituality
- History of Art
- History of Science
- Diversity within Islam
- Economics and Finance
- Education
- Gender Studies
- Islam in the Media
- Human Rights
- Interreligious Relations
- Muslims in Britain/Europe/the West.
- Islam in Asia and Africa
Individual proposals will also be considered, and, if accepted, will be grouped with similar submissions by the conference organisers. This year’s conference will include Human Rights as one of its themes.
