Islamic Studies & South Asian Studies Librarian, Washington University, St. Louis (États-Unis) — LIMITE : URGENT

Essential Functions

Select and acquire library materials and serve as liaison to several academic departments and programs; participate in user education activities and subject-specific reference services; assist in training library staff and students; and participate in relevant professional development activities.

  • Engage in collection development and outreach activities for Islamic and Near East Studies, and South Asian Studies.  Maintain resources and collections in support of these programs and departments.   Participate in relevant instruction and training activities.
  • Provide broad-based, and subject-specific, research assistance to the WUSTL community.
  • Participate in library, campus, regional and national committees and projects.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with appropriate publishers and vendors.  Work closely with library staff to ensure prompt payment for and processing of purchased materials.
  • Provide consulting services to the Libraries’ Publishing and Production (Cataloging) unit on issues related to cataloging of library materials.
  • Contribute to scholarly communications support by educating and informing faculty, students, and campus administrators about scholarly communication issues and trends.
  • Other related duties as assigned or appointed.
Required Qualifications
  • MLS from an ALA-accredited program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluency in Arabic and familiarity with scholarly trends in Islamic and Near Eastern Studies.
  • Reading knowledge of Turkish and/or Persian.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced academic work in Islamic and Near Eastern Studies desirable.
  •  Experience working with Urdu and Hindi library resources.
Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $3,396.00 – $4,331.00 monthly.
