The newly established Yale-NUS College in Singapore (www.yale-nus.edu.sg) announces the availability of faculty positions in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Founded by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Yale University, Yale-NUS College draws on the best elements of liberal arts education to re-imagine the curriculum and collegiate experience for the 21st Century.

The College seeks outstanding faculty in a range of disciplinary areas. Applicants should be active researchers, committed to innovative pedagogy and curriculum development, and enjoy close mentoring of students. Successful applicants will contribute to the majors in their specialist area, as well as relevant parts of the Yale-NUS Common Curriculum. An ongoing research program that incorporates undergraduates would be highly desirable. The College has openings in the following fields:

• History: One or more open rank faculty members in history with particular interest in candidates who work in one of the following areas: Islamic World (period open), Atlantic World (preferably southern hemisphere, period open), or European intellectual history (post-1500, preferably post 1700);
• Literature: One or more Assistant/Associate Professor rank positions in literature in any field of African, Anglo-American, Asian (South or East), European, or comparative literatures; critical theory; cultural studies; dramatic literature, theater history, practice or performance;
• Philosophy: One Assistant/Associate Professor rank position. We are particularly interested in candidates working in the following areas: Indian, East Asian or African philosophy;
• Art History: One Senior Asian Art Historian, at the Full or Associate level, with tenure, specializing in any of the following areas: East Asian, South Asian or Southeast Asian art.  Comparative Religious Studies:
• Rev. Yap Kim Hao Chair: One senior scholar in humanistic or social-scientific approaches to the world’s religions, with expertise in more than one religious tradition.  Social Science:
• JY Pillay Global Asia Chair: One or more distinguished senior scholars in any area of the social sciences. Expertise in Asia is not required, but a global outlook is essential;
• Political Science/Global Affairs: One or more open rank positions in Comparative Politics, International Relations, or Political Theory;
• Anthropology: One or more open rank positions in sociocultural anthropology;
• Urban Studies: One or more open rank positions in a comparative perspective of urban society and social change, urban governance, urban resilience and sustainability, or urban-regional development.  Environmental Studies:
• Environmental Studies: One or more Assistant/Associate Professor rank positions in political, legal, economic, technological, scientific, or cultural dimensions of contemporary environmental issues, or fields suitable to an undergraduate liberal arts program.

The course of study at Yale-NUS College reflects the internationalism of our faculty and student body. Yale-NUS is a fully residential four-year College, located adjacent to the National University of Singapore main campus.

The College emphasizes small class size, close interaction between living and learning and a common curriculum, which is significantly broader than most established “core curricula.” It includes courses addressing material and disciplines from across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
