Political Science: The Department of Political Science at Swarthmore College invites applications for a tenure-track position in International Relations at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall semester of 2015.

We are looking for someone who studies new and emerging global threats, including, for example: civil wars, failed states, resource scarcity, global warming, non-state actors (such as terrorist organizations), immigration, refugees, human rights, humanitarian intervention, nuclear proliferation, and the role of new technologies in conflict.

Preference will go to candidates with the following attributes: (1) a demonstrable record of excellence in teaching and research; (2) a proficiency in quantitative methods, and a willingness to teach a class on research methods in Political Science; (3) regional expertise, preferably in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa; (4) the ability to contribute to other departments and interdisciplinary programs at Swarthmore, for example, peace and conflict studies and environmental studies.

Candidates should submit three syllabi, one for an introductory course in international politics and two for intermediate courses. These syllabi represent an important part of the application.
