General Description:
The Pacific Lutheran University Global Studies Program and Department of Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position with a joint appointment to Global Studies and Anthropology starting September 2015. Applicants should be able to teach our introductory Global Studies course, “Global Perspectives”, as well as other courses relevant to international development, international relations, and/or area studies.
The Global Studies program offers a major and minor. We place a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches to complex global issues. Faculty seek to advance the University’s vision of academic distinction through our global focus, student-faculty collaboration in research and service projects and by helping students find their own paths to meaningful and successful lives.

Full-time, tenure-track position available September 1, 2015.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience + benefits package
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Teach the introductory course for Global Studies as well as 4 other courses in international relations/international development and 1 course in Anthropology. In addition, the selected candidate is expected to serve on the interdisciplinary Global Studies Committee and contribute to the larger life of the University through committee work and other service activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
– A clearly defined scholarship agenda relevant to global studies and a commitment to interdisciplinary teaching methods and philosophy.
– Familiarity with anthropological methods, theories and literature.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in International Development, Anthropology, International Relations, Political Science, Geography or related field. ABD will be considered, but PhD must be in hand by September 1, 2015.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Strong teaching credentials.
– Clear scholarship agenda relevant to global development.
