Appel à chapitres : “Islamic feminist hermeneutics” — LIMITE : non précisée

Contributors are invited to propose chapters for an edited volume on Islamic feminist hermeneutics.  The purpose of the book is to employ the most recent THEORETICAL insights from various feminist( in the broad sense of the term)   bodies of knowledge and apply them to wither the Qur’an, Sunna /hadith  and/or  Islamic theology, history, ethics, law , jurisprudence to account for the patriarchal nature of  classical and neo-classical interpretations and to argue for non-patriarchal alternative interpretations.

Those interested would need to think about and commit by beginning of next academic semester in September to a particular topic (  see my recommendations below) by providing me with a 250-300 words abstract/ outline  of your proposed chapter  that would need to be written by May- June 2016 ( i.e. two years from now) with first drafts due in end of January 2016 .
Suggested topics include cross pollination between Islamic studies and contemporary  theoretical insight from :
1. feminist philosophy /hermeneutics
2. feminist theology/religion
3.feminist legal/ethics  studies
4. feminist history
5. feminist cultural studies
6. feminist political studies
7 . (feminist) critical theory
8. (feminist) literary theory- my contribution
Palgrave editions have already expressed interest in the project but  their policy now is that they want 75 % of the book written before they offer a contract.   If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
