On Monday, 16 June 2014, 5 pm at ZMO, André Chappatte (ZMO) will give a talk on Exploring the City’s Margins: Night Life in Two Small Towns of Muslim West Africa in the framework of the Urban Studies Seminar.

Thursday, 19 June 2014, 6 pm at ZMO, Robert Launay (Northwestern University, Evanston) will talk about Writing Boards and Blackboards: considerations on Islamic education in Africa in the framework of the ZMO-Colloquium.

On Friday, 20 June 2014, 3:30pm at Einstein-Forum, Am Neuen Markt 7, 14467 Potsdam, the symposium “Authentisierung von StadtLandschaften”, organized by the Leibniz Forschungsverbunds Historische Authentizität takes place. In this framework Ulrike Freitag will give a lecture on Sana’a oder Dubai – Reflektionen über Stadtentwicklung auf der Arabischen Halbinsel and Nora Lafi will present a paper on The Question of Authenticity in Cities of NorthAfrica and the MiddleEast: The Medieval and Ottoman Historical Built Heritage Between Conservation, Transformation and Re-Invention in Tunis, Aleppo and Cairo (1870present).

On Monday, 30 June 2014, 5pm at ZMO, Wendy Pullan (Center for Architecture and Urban Studies, University of Cambridge) will give a lecture on The Migration of Frontiers in Contested Cities in the framework of the Urban Studies Seminar.
