Held as a part of the 600th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and Turkey, the main purpose of this conference is to compare experiences of European Union (EU) member states and Turkey, which has been a candidate state to join the EU since the early 2000s.

During the conference participants will discuss Turkey’s integration process. Simultaneously, topics such as the role and significance of the Republic of Turkey for EU member states, its perception in societies of the European Community and the character of relations regarding international security, economy and cultural cooperation relating to the growing position of contemporary Turkey will be discussed.

The following topics are of particular interest: history of Turkish relations with European countries; history, progress and experience of integration processes; social and economic challenges for the EU; perception of candidate states by member states; Turkish and Muslim minorities in member states; political and party system of the Republic of Turkey; EU enlargement in political thought; foreign policy of the Republic of Turkey; EU strategy towards the Balkans and the Middle East; Turkey in respect of energy security of the EU; and cultural and religious aspects of European integration.

The languages of conference will be Polish and English.
