Visiting scholar at Danish Institute for Human Rights (Danemark) — LIMITE : 01/04/2014
The Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) hereby invites applications from scholars in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for a one-month research visit at DIHR in the autumn of 2014.
With this research visit programme, DIHR hopes to contribute to the exchange of experiences, knowledge and research on human rights between scholars from Denmark and the MENA region, as well as to facilitate the dissemination of research on human rights to the public in Denmark and MENA.
The invitation extends specifically to scholars with an interest in the theme of religion and human rights, with a particular focus on the topics of constitutional reform, governance and public participation.
During their research visit at DIHR, which extends over a month in the autumn of 2014, the scholars will be invited to write a five-page brief on a topic that relates to the above-mentioned theme and to present this in a public seminar, organised by DIHR. After their visit, the scholars are encouraged to disseminate their work in their home country and the MENA region.
The research visit will give the visiting scholars a possibility to become part of a stimulating research environment, to interact with DIHR researchers and other staff, and become acquainted with the work and resources of the institute. If they so wish, visiting scholars may also become part of a DIHR pool of experts for future consultancy assignments, teaching and expert input to DIHR projects and programmes.
Travel, accommodation and living expenses will be covered by DIHR.
Interested researchers should submit the following materials to Marie Juul Petersen, DIHR Research Department, mape@humanrights.dk. All applicants should have a PhD degree, be fluent in English and have a minimum of two years research experience.
- a letter describing their research interests as per the above selected theme including the topic to explore during the research visit;
- the proposed dates for the visit (between September and November 2014);
- a current curriculum vitae and list of publications; and
- two examples of written material (journal articles, book chapters, reports etc.)Applications should be submitted by the 1st of May 2014. A group of DIHR staff will review applications and select two scholars from the pool of applications. All applicants will receive a letter on the decision no later than the 1st of July 2014.
