The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs and Department of Geography invite applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor position with a focus on economic development in the Global South. The successful applicant will teach introduction to human geography, economic geography, a course on their region of expertise, and development courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants will support the degree programs of the Elliott School of International Affairs and the Department of Geography (BA and MA).
This is a one-year appointment beginning in August 2014. Contingent upon performance and continuing academic needs, it may be renewed for one additional year. Basic qualifications: A Ph.D. in Geography with expertise in economic and/or development geography and a regional concentration in the Global South is required for appointment as Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will be considered, but must have completed all requirements for the degree by the expected start date of the position to be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor; otherwise, the appointment would be at the rank of Instructor.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
