2014 Call for Membership in the “Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities” (AGYA) — LIMITE : 15/03/2014

This new bi-lateral academy has been established at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Berlin) and the Arabian Gulf University (Bahrain) and aims to establish a framework for international research cooperation between Arab and German young researchers (3-10 years after their PhD).

The academy will consist of 25 young researchers from Germany and 25 young researchers from Arab countries (Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen).

Eligibility: – Early-career researchers from any field in Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Technical Sciences, and Arts. –  Prospective candidates must have received their Ph.D. no longer than 3 to 10 years ago at the time of application. –  Applicants must be affiliated with a university or a research institution in any Arab country or in Germany. –  The working language of the AGYA is English. No knowledge of German or Arabic is necessary.

While the Arab world is experiencing a dynamic transition, it is especially important that young Arab and German researchers intensify their contacts and establish new forms of cooperation. Addressing this challenge, the　”Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities” (AGYA)　brings together outstanding Arab and German researchers of the young generation and provide them with comprehensive tools and administrative resources required for innovative joint projects and cooperative initiatives in various fields of research and education.
