The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations seeks to appoint a tenure-track or tenured professor in Persian literature and cultures. While the specific area of specialization is open, the candidate must have a thorough knowledge of classical Persian literature from the eleventh century to the seventeenth century. In addition, the candidate should show some familiarity with the broader historical and cultural contexts within which classical Persian literature developed, both within and beyond Iran. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2014. The appointee will teach and advise both undergraduate and graduate level students. Harvard is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
